Some Notes About His Lordship!

Screaming Lord Sutch died recently. According to reports, he was found hanged in his own house. Apparently a suicide! This is bad! Lord Sutch was one of my favourite entertainers since I heard "Jack The Ripper" on the radio. For years to come, I didn't know who the singer was, until, quite by accident, I bought a Screaming Lord Sutch LP. There are only two true Rock'n'Rollers from England (to these ears anyway), one is Johnny Kidd And The Pirates and the other is Screaming Lord Sutch And The Savages. Listen to "'Til The Following Night", "She's Fallen In Love With A Monsterman", "Dracula's Daughter", "Monster In Black Tights", "Purple People Eater", "London Rocker", "I'm A Hog For You" (ringing a bell?) etc.

If you don't know Screaming Lord Sutch, go to your favourite 2nd hand record shop and try to buy one or two of his ground breaking records. Here's a few from my collection:

(LP) Screaming Lord Sutch Story - 7777 USA
(LP) Lord Sutch And Heavy Friends - Cotillion SD 9015 USA
(LP) Rock & Horror - ACE CHA 65 UK
(CD) Screaming Lord Sutch & The Savages - EMI CDP 7 98044 2 (UK)
(CD) Raving Loony Party - Hallmark 303042
(CD) Live Manifesto - Jet JETCD 1004
(CD) Murder In The Graveyard - Fury Records FCD3023
(CD) Munster Rock - Munster Records MRCD 199 / 2000

If you want to read up on His Lordship, you might want to consider "Life As Sutch, The Official Autobiography Of A Monster Raving Loony" by Lord David Sutch and Peter Chippindale (ISBN 0 20 717240 4 Harper Collins) or "The Man Who Was Screaming Lord Sutch" by Graham Sharpe (ISBN 1-85410-983-9).

I've been unable to find a decent Screaming Lord Sutch website. Please let me know if you know of one. There's his loony party website, but doesn't seem like anybody is updating it. Well, another one of the truly great ones is gone! And I quote here from one of the CD booklets:

As the late John Lennon once observed, seemingly without a trace of irony:
"Screaming Lord Sutch will go on forever".

Amen to that!
